Avoid using detergents with amonia in them. The "pee smell" in them might encouage your cat to mark the spot again.
Here's a good homemade solution, this solution is good for both old and new stains: Try 1 1/2 cups of warm water and a 1/2 cup of vinegar. Pour the mixture over the stain and let soak for about 3-5 minutes. Note: vinegar is not good for marble or stone.
When dry sprinkle area with baking soda. Once the spot's good and dry, vaccuum the excess baking soda.-
